Symbols inside the ductwork

A damper symbol sits ON the duct — its strokes and the duct's overlap completely. Vector matching verifies the damper's own geometry and lets the duct pass through, where pixel tools see one merged blob.

Diffuser look-alikes

Square diffusers, grilles and access panels are all rectangles with internals. Each candidate location goes to the one class whose template explains the drawing's ink best — no double counting between neighbours in the legend.

Mixed vector and scanned sheets

Older mechanical packages mix CAD sheets with scanned record drawings. Triage detects each kind; scans switch to image template matching with an AI-read legend, and you review with the same queue either way.

Revision churn

Mechanical layouts revise constantly. Counting is deterministic and fast, so re-running revision C is minutes — and the diff between your two exports is your change schedule.
